TCADA Executive Director Jay Kimbrough addressed representatives of more than 40 agencies just before they signed a letter vowing to unite to prevent underage drinking.
"We believe that underage drinking can be reduced when all resources are brought together in a unified effort," TABC Administrator Doyne Bailey told the crowd.
High school student Becky Quigley signed the commitment letter on behalf of Texans Standing Tall. "I am here today to be a voice for youth," she said. "Through the Alliance, all Texans can begin to look honestly at the messages and role modeling that is communicated to us as young people, from the adult world, about alcohol use."
Insurance Commissioner Jose Montemayor said: "I am proud to pledge the cooperation of the Texas Department of Insurance in this effort to save the lives of the young people who are the future of our state. TDI will do whatever is possible to help the Alliance to prevent underage drinking."
Stella Bryant signed the pact for the Health and Human Services Commission.
