Today's underage drinking parties are different. Generally more alcohol is available which means an increase in risks.
As a member of law enforcement approaching an underage drinking party, your safety is paramount. Be aware of the likelihood of intoxicated drivers speeding away from the scene.
And when entering the party, you have a responsibility to identify what type of alcohol is being consumed.
For instance, if there is a keg, most kegs contain the same amount of alcohol as 165 cans of beer.
If they're drinking Malt Beverages, each of these cans equals about 4 ½ cans of beer.
And what about Liquor Bottles, each bottle can have the equivalent of 40 beers.
The higher the Alcohol by Volume consumed, the more likely a medical emergency can occur. This means it is vitally important to know how many people have been drinking and to ensure all partygoers are accounted for.
As young people gain access to more alcohol, the risk of alcohol poisoning is greater.
Remember. Underage Drinking can have serious consequences.
