More and more Texas teens are taking a stand against underage drinking. They're joining community coalitions, forming student organizations and letting adults know that they are the key to the solution when it comes to preventing teen alcohol use.

IT'S WORKING: The percentage of Texas high school students who have ever had at least 1 drink of alcohol decreased from 80.7% in 2001 to 76.9% in 2003. However, the decrease was not considered statistically significant and more must be done to prevent underage alcohol use. The results are clear. Statewide surveys of Texas students show that alcohol use is down, especially among elementary and middle school students. But there is still much work to be done. Too many young Texans are drinking and dying.

There's plenty of room at the table for young people who want to help the Alliance Against Underage Drinking fulfill its mission. Contact us about ways to get involved.

While you are here, check out the Activities Page (link located above). Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), Alliance partners, hold Youth Leadership Power Camps each summer for young people interested in preparing themselves for leadership roles in their community's fight against underage drinking. Details concerning the camps are found on this site's Activities Page, as are links to various facts sheets and other informational resources.
