Students Against Destructive Decisions
Students Against Destructive Decisions, is a school-based organization dedicated to addressing the issues of underage drinking, impaired driving, drug use and other destructive decisions. SADD's mission is to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the serious issues young adults are facing today. Empowerment is the foundation of SADD. The idea of empowerment is to build students' confidence and ability to create changes and manage behavior in a way that results in healthy choices.
Texans Standing Tall
As one of 12 coalitions that comprise Reducing Underage Drinking: Youth and Adults United for Change, Texans Standing Tall is dedicated to bringing youth and adults together to address environmental policies impacting underage drinking. Membership includes representatives from the education field, alcohol and drug use prevention agencies, advocacy groups, service and faith organizations, youth leadership groups, business and law enforcement.
Tomorrow's Leaders Today
Tomorrow's Leaders Today prepares youth leaders to actively improve their lives through community service. Students attend a three-day training conference, then return to their hometowns where they work with law enforcement officers, elected officials, media, clergy, social service providers and school personnel. Teens learn leadership by leading and become partners in solving community problems. Contact Community Action Partnership for Prevention at (281) 238-8414 or e-mail sstaggs@nstci.com.
Youth in Action
Youth in Action, sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, teams young people with adult community partners to work toward environmental prevention strategies by changing laws, strengthening enforcement and media advocacy. These teams of young people are working to change the social climate that suggests that underage drinking is an acceptable choice for those under the 21 minimum drinking age.
